Holle is one of the leading manufacturers of organic baby food with 80 years of history. Albert Diefenbach founded the Holle food AG as a specialist food processing company in Arlsheim in 1933. This was the foundation for organic baby food. Even then the company’s philosophy was based on anthroposophical dietary principles and biodynamic quality. More than 80 products carry the “Love, Comfort and Holle” message. Since the very beginning natural quality has been thier guiding principle - even 80 years ago Holle uncompromisingly rejected chemical processing and preservatives. Today, they use only raw ingredients from biodynamic or organic agriculture and gently process them for your baby. That is the basis of Holle’s special quality.

It has been over 80 years since Holle began manufacturing baby food using Demeter products. They are conscious of the fact that they, as a manufacturer of baby food, bear a very special responsibility – for the environment; our babies and their future. As a result, sustainable management and social responsibility have always been among the company’s core values. Their operating methods are based on the desire to ensure that future generations will be able to live in a healthy environment. In concrete terms this means that they consistently work hard to make Holle even more sustainable, implementing a wide range of measures and projects.

Holle offers a wide range of Demeter products like porridges, formula milks including goats milk nutrition, rusks, and fruit and vegetable pouches. Since the very beginning, over 80 years ago, they have focused on naturalness and the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers are strictly prohibited without any compromises. Today they are still using only raw ingredients grown to biodynamic or organic standards for their baby food; the basis for the special quality in the Holle baby food. The production for Holle baby formula milks and baby porridges takes place in Germany. Their production lines are modern, using the newest technology and are ISO certified. The grain used for their formula milks and porridges grows in healthy soil on Demeter certified biodynamic farms in Germany. Additional they are only buying rice from Italy and millet grain from Hungary. Because they have your child in mind they are only using Demeter grains from organic farmers with whom they have a long-term established and trustful relationships. The milk they are using for the Holle Organic milk formulas is produced in organic farms in south Germany. This ensures the best quality, tasty and full of nutrition, which are so important for babies and children.

Foods that carry the Demeter label have been grown to strict biodynamic standards- in harmony with nature. Biodynamic farmers use an organic approach that harnesses the holistic qualities of their growing cycles. Whether soil, seeds, plants, animals or humans - each element in the agricultural system has its own uniquely important role to play. Each element supports and strengthens the others and in doing so creates a farm that is a natural and self-contained living organism. The use of chemical and synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and GM technology are strictly prohibited in biodynamic agriculture, as is the addition of questionable ingredients during processing. Demeter agriculture is unique in its consistent and holistic approach because, through its biodynamic growing methods, it gives back to nature more than it takes out.
